“Shaun Andrews.”
“’Shaun Andrews’? What the fuck, dude? What’re you doing?”
“Eating dinner.”
“Alone? Wanna do that phone sex thing?”
“With my agent and my editor.”
“Aah, okay. How are Mr. Homophobic and Mr. Homoterrified?”
*chuckling* “I’ll have to get back to you on that.”
“Alright. Catch you later.”
“Hey.”
“What?”
“You know.”
*smiling* “I do. Right back atcha, dude.”
“Bye.”

Who: Shaun calling Zach
Time:
“Shaun?”
“I love you.”
*laughing* “I know. You just told me, like, ten minutes ago.”
“No, technically, I didn’t. I only said, ‘You know’ and that doesn’t count.”
“It does when you’re with the Homo brothers.”
“Well, it’s not right. It made me feel bad. I’m not ashamed to be with you, you know.”
“I know you’re not. Don’t worry about it.”
“But I do, Zach. I shouldn’t have to hide my family from these assholes just because they don’t agree with my “lifestyle choices’.”
“Shaun…”
“No, I’m serious. They know what my first book was about. They know I’m gay. Why should I tiptoe around, hiding my phone calls, just to keep them happy?”
“Whoa, dude, chill. We talked about this...you know this publishing house will give you more exposure than your other one, you know you need to stick it out…just through this next book. Once it hits the big time, you can shop around for any editor you want.”
“That’s if this book takes off. You don’t know that’s going to happen. What if I’m stuck with them forever?”
“The only thing you’re stuck with forever is me and Cody.” *pauses* “Look, the book is going to do great. It’s a good book. You’re a great writer. You’re not hiding your family, you’re just being discreet. Suck it up for one more day.”
*grits teeth and groans*
“C’mon, man. Do this for one more day and I’ll give you phone sex tomorrow.”
“Tomorrow? Why not tonight?”
“’Cause I’m sleeping with Cody. I don’t want him waking up alone if he still doesn’t feel good.”
“You’re a good dad, Zach.”
“And you’re a good man, Shaun. This doesn’t mean you’re selling out. I know you’re proud of us…I am too.”
“How do you do that?”
“Do what?”
“Make me feel better about doing something I hate doing?”
“Guess I’m the master at something, huh?”
*laughs* “Yeah, but you suck at phone sex.”
“Not fair, dude. I haven’t even done it yet.”
“I know, that’s my point. Ug, here they come. I should go.”
“Alright. You gonna call me later?”
“No, I don’t want to wake Cody. You call me in the morning…wake me up.”
“With phone sex?”
“If you think you can, yes.”
“Shut up, dude.”
“Zach?”
“Yeah?”
“I love you.”
“They’re standing right there, aren’t they? The Homo brothers.”
“Yep.”
“Pretty proud of yourself, huh?”
“Yep.”
*laughs* “I’ll talk to you tomorrow.”
“Sounds good. Night, babe.”
“G’night.”
