Hello and welcome to The Shelter Diner - named after the busy Pacific Diner that Zach works at. It's my hope that people who have enjoyed the movie will come here to discuss it and share their art and enthusiasm. Here's a minor example of how things can go but, please consider it only a starting point:
When I watch Zach skateboarding at the beginning of the film I can't help but smile over the thought that at that point he has no idea whatsoever how profoundly his life is going to change. There is this amazing journey in the works even as he is just trying to get through the day.
I'm looking forward to hearing from you!

Date: 2008-05-19 10:35 pm (UTC)I think Shelter was made for multiple viewings since the first scene with Zach skating home is all the more meaningful after you see where he ends up. He is such a boy at the beginning - despite all of his responsibilities - and we get to see him grow into this loving, creative, vibrant man. When Shaun asks him, "What changed?" and he answers, "I did" it's no small truth.
I'm so glad you found this site and are enjoying it. That's exactly what I was hoping for! As for your 20,000 word essay on why you love this film: Bring it on! ::big grin::
