I came across a couple articles thanks to the good people at EnnisJack.com. The first one is from Out.com and features first and foremost a breathtaking photo of Trevor Wright and Brad Rowe that I like to think of as Zach and Shaun's wedding photo. Love all the points of contact Trevor makes - foot, knee, elbow (!) - despite the fact that Brad has his back to him. I also love Trevor's quote at the end in regards to acting in the intimate scenes: “I saw his eyes, and they were Brad’s, and that was that.” Sweet ... The second article is a somewhat snotty review from Slant Magazine of the DVD but the good news is that it does have some extras such as a commentary track with Jonah Markowitz, Trevor Wright and a chatty Brad Rowe.

OK, first? The picture? I ADORE.

That has got to be the sweetest thing I've ever read. :D

And I'd been iffy about when I was going to actually get the DVD, but now? Good Lord. Chatty Brad? Trevor? And Jonah? Oh yes, you know I have to have it now. I think the Chatty Brad clinches it for me. :D

I would have bought the DVD even if it was a bare bones production but chatty Brad works for me, too.

It really does. I mean, it's one thing to know they are good friends and stuff, but to see something as completely undeniable as that? Just makes it so very sweet.

And safe sums it up pretty damn well.

Oh definitely getting the DVD. It's just a matter of when. I'm not sure anyone around here is going to carry it so it depends on when I can get it ordered. AGRH

Oh don't I love Slant Magazine's review. Not because it's an awesome review or anything, but mostly because what they dislike about it, are the parts I (and everyone else) love.

I'm pretty sure they just wanted less clothes or waaay more dramatic angsty Hollywood-ness so clearly they can just be ignored.
They clearly cannot understand the joys of subtlety. More's the pity for them.

So true! I guess some people want their entertainment fed to them in a sippy-cup. I don't think I'm the only one who enjoys the refreshing amount of affection and intimacy over jaded clichés.

I just ADORE that Out.com article and the pic is to die for....and did someone mention ..... WEDDING PHOTO?...... hmmm I think they did!! ( I hope lots of fic writers took note of that observation.... hehe )

My dvd is in the post apparently..but it's got to come to England from USA.... so I still have to wait. sob, sob. I want to hear that commentary so bad I can taste it.

I so agree with you all about the happy ending too. I wanted that so badly and loved it SO much that we actually got it. That is EXACTLY the reason I love this film so much. It's sweet, tender and BEAUTIFUL.

Oooh, \o/ I'm happy to hear that your DVD is at least on the way. Mine is suppose to arrive on the 29th which makes me think that maybe I should call in sick on the 29th, cos, you know, I have my priorities. ::grin:: I very rarely listen to the commentary on DVD's but Shelter is going to be one of the exceptions.

I so agree with you all about the happy ending too.

By the time I actually saw Shelter I already knew that it was going to have a happy ending but knowing and seeing it are two very different things. I had no idea that it was going to be a happy ending between two absolutely believable men in love. To steal Zach's phrase, every film should be so lucky.

Wow... that pic on the bike is just... wow... no words to describe it... maybe beautiful, but that just doesnt convey how HOT that is!

Ive read that first article before, and I love that line you quoted. I think that's why the movie was as good as it was- they made a connection and they were able to use that connection when filming.

Absolutely. There are lots of coming out films but what makes this one so distinctive is the unabashed affection and connection between Shaun and Zach. Brad and Trevor played that out so beautifully which is no small thing since getting along in real life doesn't always translate into onscreen chemistry. Happily, they seem to have both in abundance.

That picture just says Commitment Ceremony all over it. ::big grin:: Ironically, I would love to see them forgo the whole marriage route and simply get matching tattoos of rings on their ring fingers or something like that. To me, it seems more fitting for the quiet way they express their love with their looks and actions but never say it out loud.

I adored Trevor before I read that quote and now I adore him even more - something I didn't think was possible. He is such a Prince. A real Prince.

There is something about sleeping/dozing with someone that implies trust and I couldn't help but respond to that when I saw it. So sweet ... I hear you. Yeah, that line is just so ... stupid. Sorry. I've run out of nice ways to say it. I would so much rather have them look at each other the way they do over going through the motions of explicit sex. Those looks and that undeniable connection between them is what makes this film so distinctive. It's also what makes that photo so ::guh!:: wonderful!
