shelter_diner | Shelter Angst vs Schmoop Challenge

I used to run an Angst vs Schmoop Challenge for Numb3rs (at

numb3rswriteoff, if you’d like to see what it’s all about), the idea for which I borrowed from the SPN fandom, and I was wondering if there might be interest in having something like that for Shelter.

(I would ~probably run the challenge out of

shelter_diner, rather than creating a new community for it.

I would probably ~not run the challenge as frequently for Shelter as I did for Numb3rs; I’m thinking maybe twice a year, rather than every other month, but that could change.)

The premise of the challenge is:

~There are two teams, Team Angst and Team Schmoop.

~People sign up to be on a team. We need at least three (3) people per team, and we need to have even-numbered teams. We also need people to sign up to pinch hit.

~There will be themes/prompts to write to. One person from each team will choose the same prompt, so that, for example, the prompt ‘surfboard’ will be written by someone on Team Angst and by someone on Team Schmoop.

~There will be assigned posting dates. You ~must post on your assigned posting date. (If you will be unable to post, you will need to let me know ahead of time so that I can get someone to pinch hit.) Posting dates will be assigned by ~prompt, so Person A from Team Schmoop and Person B from Team Angst who claimed the prompt ‘surfboard’ will both post their fic on the same day.

~Fic will be rated anonymously from 1-10 (10 being the highest) based on the following criteria:

a. how well the writer used the theme
b. how angsty (or schmoopy) the fic was
c. how much you liked it

~The team with the highest average rating will be declared the winner for that round.
