Do we know anything about Cody's father? I re-watched the movie but didn't hear anything other than he was dead. I need the info for a fic I am writing for the smallfandomfest. any help you can offer would be awesome.

Zach mentioned that Cody's father's name is Roy. Other than that, I think he's a mystery.

Yeah that is why I assumed he died. Maybe he just left.

Yes, that does happen. But it's left pretty ambiguous what happened. Also, when Cody and Zach are drawing on the table outside the supermarket, at one point Zach says "Roy's your daddy" not "Roy was your daddy", but that may be splitting hairs.

I'm definitely going with the "Roy is dead" canon - otherwise, I can't imagine him being a better catch than Jeannie that she would win custody of Cody.

That, or he's in jail.

I don't think he's dead at all.
Given the few details about Roy, I think he is in jail. And is not getting out anytime soon.
And I'm sure with his criminal record, he couldn't even attempt to have custody of Cody.
