Shaun and Gabe's Relationship

shelter_dinerI was thinking about the missing scene where Shaun tells Gabe about him and Zach, which led me to thinking about the bits and pieces that we found out about their relationship when Gabe unexpectedly came home for the weekend.
Given their age difference (as we’ve established it *g*), Shaun was probably the cool older brother who could take them places and do things with them because he had a driver’s license, for example, or could buy wine coolers. *g* The age difference could have kept them from getting to know each other, but I don’t get that impression. I think that Shaun and Gabe have a close relationship, even if they don’t see each other that often. (Shaun tells Zach that he saw Gabe “last year” when he went down to Shaun’s with some friends and partied.)
Clearly Gabe is comfortable with Shaun being gay, given the fact that he calls him ‘princess’ and says things like ‘low-carb fag food’, asks if he’s got a man in his room, and doesn’t hesitate to ask him to hang with Gabe and his friends.
Gabe knows about Shaun’s break-up, knows that Shaun will be moving into a new apartment and when, and also knows that Shaun is at the house, which means they’ve probably spoken on the phone at least once since the break-up, if not more often.
Also, Gabe’s support of Shaun (“you’ll find another one”) as well as the fact that he takes the bull by the horn and goes to see Zach and tell him that he knows, but he doesn’t care (even thought it’s weird that it’s Shaun *g*), shows a streak of maturity you’d think the partying Gabe wouldn’t possess.
So, what are your thoughts about Shaun and Gabe’s relationship?
