Happily Ever After?

Am I the only one who not only adored the HEA ending, but doesn’t want anything to harsh my squee get in the way of Shaun and Zach actually living HEA? I mean, I don’t want Shaun’s ex to show up, or his book to flop, or Zach to be attracted to someone he meets at school, or for school to be so stressful it affects their relationship, or Jeanne to screw things up with Cody. . . .

I want to live in this little bubble where nothing bad happens to the boys and they get to live out the fantasy the movie ending created in my mind. I mean, eventually we’re all probably going to come to a place where we want to write the conflict and angst and make up sex, but right now, I’m all about the bubble baby. *g*

I posted a tiny bit of Shelter picspam over at my LJ. It’s minuscule compared to true_enough’s lovely post, but it has already gotten a few folk on my f-list interested in checking out the movie.

I agree with your happily ever after! While Brian and Justin from Queer as Folk are the embodiment of angst, I find that Zach and Shaun make me feel at peace, with how they love and interact and their willingness to become a family.

I'm not sure if I will ever be interested in too much agnst, but I do agree with some conflict and hot make-up sex! Bring it on! lol

I know! It's like, I have this fear that people are going to start writing fic that make me cry, instead of making me smile like an idiot and go 'yes, yes, that's exactly right!' *g*

I mean, generally I love me some angst (along with the humor and smut) so long as I get my happy ending, but right now it's like, they've ALREADY GOT they're happy ending, please let them stay happy. At least for a while. *g*

I must admit to liking the angst not so much. I mean I know it makes for a good story but at heart I am a romantic and I love the mushy stuff. Is that why I like this movie so much? I do know that every day life is not like that and there will be fights and stuff but at the end of the day a hug and kiss is in order. (Ok that would be after the hot, clothes ripping off make up sex!)

Exactly! Real life trials and tribulations should not intrude on the fantasy, lol! At least, not too much. And if it does, I agree, hot make up sex a hug and kiss before bed is in order. *g*

Oh well, baby, I agree with everything, except that bit about Shaun's ex showing up!! I'd like that, just only to show him what an amazing gift he lost, what a gorgeous good man he sent away. And of course I'd like Zach kicking his ass into the next week!! And Shaun letting him see know how hot he is for Zach.

Well, when you put it that way, okay. *g* I wouldn't mind Shaun showing off his hot younger lover to the ex, but I'm not (yet, anyway) looking forward to the misunderstandings that might arise from Shaun's ex showing up.

Zach kicking his ass would be cool, and we know he's not afraid to take on jerks (Allen). I bet Cody could get something over on him, as well. *g*

oh, what a dilemma...

I must admit I'm an angst-whore (BBM addict, here) so not only I'm used to it, I also believe it's an important element that keeps my interest in most stories (provided of course, there will be a happy ending - my masochist side can go only so far LOL). But I can understand what you're saying and I totally agree with you. Right now, all I want to read about is their life together in LA, Zach going to college, Shaun writing his book, Cody's first days at school - you know the 'boring' every day stuff *daydreaming* I can live without the angst right now.

But a fight (especially a jealousy based one) would be nice - it would make the sex afterwards so much hotter...

Once we've sucked every last bit of life out of the fluff, then we can start down the angsty path, lol.

Yep, I totally understand. So many of my fandoms are already angsty, are constantly teetering on the edge of angst, or are deeply angst-compliant. I just really need this one to be sweet and joyful and successful. Well, this and the Strachey Mysteries. *g* But yeah, I'm sure someday someone will write the Great Zach/Shaun Angst Epic, and I might read it and even enjoy it, but not yet. For now I just want the happy bubble. :)

TOTALLY!!! i mean, this is what makes the movie so heartwarming and addictive. the idea of them in HEA just makes me willing to fight anyone who tries to break them apart. heck, cody and his two dads ... aren't just one o fthe cutest families EVER???
