Halloween Fest 2011: Prompts Post

Since there seems to be a bit of interest, I present to you Halloween Fest 2011! (Yes, I'm putting this post up a bit earlier than usual so that those of us you who need more time to write don't feel rushed. You can't post until October, though.)

It’s time to get creative! All types of fannish creations (fanfic, graphics, music videos, etc) are welcome.

The prompts for this round are song titles taken from The Ultimate Halloween Theme Songs Playlist! I will be the first to admit that I don’t know all of these songs, or why they were put on this list, but I chose 25 out of the 57 songs listed there to use as our prompts.

1. A Nightmare on My Street - DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince
2. Bad Moon Rising - Creedence Clearwater Revival
3. Black Magic Woman - Santana
4. Clap For The Wolfman - Guess Who
5. Devil in Disguise - Elvis Presley -- [livejournal.com profile] shelter_fan
6. Dinner With Drac - John Zachak
7. Don't Fear The Reaper - Blue Oyster Cult
8. Exorcist Theme - Tubular Bells
9. Frankenstein - Edgar Winter
10. Ghostbusters - Ray Parker Jr. [livejournal.com profile] frogy
11. Haunted House - Jumping Gene Simmons
12. I Put A Spell On You - Screamin' Jay Hawkins [livejournal.com profile] noabsolutes11
13. I Want My Baby Back - Jimmy Cross
14. Men In Black - Will Smith
15. Monster Mash - Bobby "Boris" Picket
16. People Are Strange - the Doors
17. Running Scared - Roy Orbison
18. Somebody's Watching Me - Rockwell
19. Spooky - Classics IV
20. Sweet Dreams - Marilyn Manson
21. Thriller - Michael Jackson
22. Twilight Zone - TV Show Theme Song
23. The Time Warp - Rocky Horror Picture Show [livejournal.com profile] shopinchickcas
24. X-Files (TV Theme)
25. Zombie Jamboree - Rockapella

While these prompts were taken from a Halloween Songs Playlist, and this is a Halloween-themed challenge, you may do whatever you want with them. For example, if you choose the Men In Black theme, give us the boys in tuxes. Rowr!

Please comment here to claim your prompts.

~You may claim as many prompts as you like, but please be realistic; don’t choose ten prompts if you will only be able to write three.

~More than one person may claim each prompt.

~There is no length requirement.

~You may post your submissions at any time from October 1st through October 31st. When posting, please include the prompt you used in your header.

That’s it for the rules, now have fun! *g*

So that you can find it again, this post will be tagged {challenge} halloween fest 2011.

I like the list. I'll have to see if I can work in the time to do one or two.

I really enjoyed reading through everyone's submission in the last challenge so I definitely want to enter this one!

I choose the Devil in Disguise prompt!

It's been a few years since I posted in this community (I think my last post was done back in 08 a few months after the movie came out... it doesn't feel that long! Wow!). Anyway, I've been home sick from work for a few days and watched the movie again... 4 times in as many days LOL

Been scoping out what I've missed in the community for the past few years and came across this post. I'm wondering what the rules are on claiming prompts? Halloween is my fav holiday and I'd really like to write something for this but don't know if I'll have time. I don't want to claim something and then not come through. Do I have to sign up ahead of time or can I just post if I'm able?

Sounds good. I'll claim Rocky Horror :)

Yes, sorry... I should have been more clear. Started writing it last night :D

I'll take Ghostbusters.

Hey everyone! Excited about joining this community, as I've been obsessed with Shelter ever since I first saw it! ;) I'll start off by claiming 'I put a spell on you' by Screaming Jay Hawkins.

Typo?

Howdy, I think there may be a typo in the list-- should #12 be Screamin' Jay Hawkins? Not sure why my eye zeroed in on that. I think this means it's my bedtime.

Well, even though the original poster of the list left out the "r" in the poor guy's name, it's certainly an interesting music mix. What a great, fun idea for a writing challenge! I can't wait to see what the writers come up with!
